Twitter friends @OttsD and @beervikingrules recommend Strange Brew for your drinking and viewing experience.

Allow us to again skew sophomoric and steer away from the world of craft and Belgian beers and veer instead into the world of drinking for effect. Though we have discussed video games at length in the past, we have overlooked a far older medium which has undoubtedly fueled its share of beer soaked evenings. It’s long been understood that in theaters of old drinks were taken for each Charlie Chaplin prat fall. Surely, years from now people will be drinking to Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 5.

Please join us in today’s post where we’ll be sharing our favorite movie drinking games and movies that are just plain conducive to drinking in general.

Danny - As strange as it may sound to the uninitiated, by far the best movie drinking game is played with Disney’s Hercules. One rule; drink every time there is a feat of strength. These feats do not have to be performed by the hero mind you, nay, any person in the room can proclaim any act a feat of strength. Other great movies include Street Fighter (as in Guile as played by Van Damme and Bison by Raul Julia), Critters, and Starship Troopers.

Justin – I’ve always felt that things are better when they come in pairs; pants for instance. Who wants to wear one jean? No, you want a pair of jeans. And you couldn’t have a threesome without at least two people of the same sex….unless there’s a hermaphrodite involved. I digress. I highly enjoy drinking to two sets of movies about two sets of guys. The Bill and Ted movies are great. Drink every time you hear “Excellent”, anytime the guys play air guitar, anytime the phone booth warps (for the first flick) and anytime someone says “Station” (for the second). Also, Wayne ’s World works in the same fashion. Drink for all “Not!”s, “Schwings” or anytime Wayne brushes his hair behind his ears.

Jeff- I think you can pretty much create a challenging drinking game to any movie really. It can make a crap movie more fun to watch or make a great movie even greater. Some of my drinking to movies memories include Bill and Teds Bogus Journey(drink every time you hear Awesome, Bogus, Station… etc) and Anchorman. I think one of my favorite things to do is get drunk and watch the Best of Bowie video collection or Frank Zappa: Does Humor Belong in Music. Keep it greasy.

I neglected to mention that my brother and I came up with a drinking game that works with any movie. It’s called ‘I Like it’. Anytime something neat and/or radical happens you say you like it and take a drink. We invented it during Roadhouse which is full of things of the neat and radical variety.

Oh yea, I forgot about the arbor mist passing during bowie songs. The “I Like It” is my new favorite go to game. Its just so versitle, unless there’s nothing in the movie to like.

I’m not a huge fan of the “I like it” because there really isn’t much control to it. Someone can say “I like it” whenever they feel like it. It just seems more fun to have to drink whenever you see a pair of tits or whatever else it may be. It makes people pay attention to the movie more.

Any Kurt Russell movie, anytime he is rugged as hell. Bottoms up.

Just a quick side note: I love that “Disney’s Hercules drinking game” is directing to us in search engines and that three people have come here as a result. It really is the best movie drinking game in my opinion. I didn’t realize other people liked drinking to Disney cartoons as much as I do.
